Why do many students study abroad instead of just traveling?

A total of five (5) Maynooth University Scholarships worth $1,000 each will be awarded for the Summer 2018 session. If awarded, you will also be asked to submit a brief personal blog — in text or video format — as well as photos from your time abroad within one month of your program’s end date. These will be shared with future prospective students via our print and/or social media outlets in hopes that they will inspire others to study in Maynooth.

Well, there are many reasons why some people don’t consider studying abroad.

When questioned about academic pursuits, 87 percent of respondents said that study abroad influenced subsequent educational experiences, 63 percent said that it influenced their decision to expand or change academic majors, and 64 percent reported that it influenced their decision to attend graduate school.

While studying abroad may be valuable, doing so is not easy because of the high cost and trouble of going through an application process to get into college.
