When a tool ceases to aid in the accomplishment of the task for which it was created, it is no longer a tool but an impediment. It is highly unlikely that cellphones and iPads were created primarily to educate people. Were that true, Steve Jobs would have given his children free access to them, instead of restricting their usage to one or two hours a week. (Don’t get high on your own supply.) And Apple’s $80-billion profit last quarter—the highest ever recorded by a company—may suggest motives other than philanthropy. But even were it true—even were the tech industry’s primary motive to educate the masses—the evidence points in the opposite direction: people who text and shop and otherwise distract themselves with electronic devices during class learn and understand far less than those who do not, as Nicholas Carr has demonstrated compellingly in his book, The Shallows.
Most of the research prospective students need to do when determining which options to apply for is available for free online. It is not necessary for any prospective student to pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars to so-called scholarship companies. Be especially careful not to get involved with any company that guarantees a student will absolutely receive the scholarship he or she applies for.
While searching for nursing scholarship information for my daughter who is in get first year of her Bachelors of Nursing program at a major university, I came across this link. Helpful information and links – thanks! But these comments? Most sound totally ignorant and begging for money, many from non US citizens. Seriously? Do the hard work and apply, nobody is going to hand you a free lunch just “because.” If you want to be a nurse, find a way. Work two jobs if necessary and save money and then go to a two year college first paying your own way. Then with good grades, maybe you will get accepted into a nursing program and can apply for scholarships or loans. We need more people willing to work hard – what use to be the American way. Sadly, it’s becoming the gimme crowd of the losers.
Hello, I am 24 and plan on attending Paul Mitchell hair institute in Murfreesboro TN November 2013… Im living on my own without any family or help.I’m currently saving for a new vehicle and not by choice. I’ve grown up in a hair salon and always admired the freedom beauticians have. When I was younger I never realized how hard it would be to better yourself ( by getting an education) when working for a
job that doesnt care about your well being, pays you very little and demands all of your tim. I truly am trying to become more success in life and would love doing so even more if I became more successful while doing something that I love. Expressing my creativity, and making others feel great about themselves. Knowing that I put a smile on someone’s face. But with tuition costing me 17,900 dollars a part of my goal is becoming more difficult than I thought. I also plan on going back to college once I complete getting my license in cosmetology. Another great aspect of that field… I will have flexible hours to achieve more! Please help me it truly will be very appreciated. Any help for that matter.
Hopefully now in june or next year, I have been trying to gather information online without any success. I would really like to do this, no only for myself but to provide a solid foundation for my daughter. Because Regardless of everything I don’t regret having my little angel and I wouldn’t trade her for any thing in the world. As a parent you teach your child regardless the age to appreciate the little you can afford. You teach them to be happy, not on the basis of what they have but finding pleasure in the little things, self worth. One day I will be able to provide for her every need and want. And of course take her to private schools but I will always raise her to be a free spirit not a person of wealth but a person of love, appreciation and empathy.
I need financial assistance in order to a career in cosmetology. The cost is about $23,000 which I currently do not possess. I am a single parent of two teenagers and I need to create a comfortable cash flow of revenue to be able to afford college tuition for the both. I have been working in the casino field for several years which helped me keep my head above sea level. However, working in the casino has brought on some health issues due to it being a smoking environment. Therefore, I’d appreciate any help re:resources I can get. If there’s any suggestions or recommendations feel free to forward the info to me. Thank you in advance and God bless!
I just spent two hours reading through this very informative site. Rather than write a letter as if speaking to Dr. Phil, take the time to read and then research the information provided. Most of you are asking this site to do the leg work for you and then drop you a line with the answers. If you are being that lazy now, you will have a difficult time in school. It is up to YOU to find the money. It is up to YOU to get the results you are so desperately expressing you need. Nothing in this world comes free. Michael Jordan said, “You miss every shot you never take.” It’s YOUR shot – take it or loose it. Think it. Ink it. Walk in it.
i want to join a nursing scholarship helping and granting me of its full free tuition fee provided that i must provide/pass the necessary requirements. I can ASSURE better grades in return.
