One pleasant surprise for companies offering free stuff to teens is their willingness to give them feedback about the products they sample. In fact, teens are much more likely to take the time to fill out a product survey before and after they receive an offer. This in addition to gaining a new customer at an early age is very appealing to most companies and one reason why we think this segment of the freebies market is just going to keep expanding. We would be remiss if we didnt bring up one potentially dangerous aspect of companies marketing free offers to teens. Because of their age, teens have a tendency to trust more than adults when it comes to giving out personally indentifying information. While the top brand name corporations take great pains to make sure teens understand the pitfalls of being too free with their information, there are always going to be rouge companies that only care about making a fast buck. We strongly advise teens to think about what info they want, and should give out. A good rule of thumb is to not give out anymore information than is absolutely necessary to apply for an offer. If a company asks you for too much info, pass it by. Its not worth the possibility of sensitive information going somewhere you never intended it to. This is especially true for offers on social networking sites. We suggest that teens set up a separate account on these type sites that is only for applying for these offers. Even doing that, it's still imperative for teens to understand that giving out too much information can be a dangerous proposition.
