Today I practised on an agree/disagree essay on IELTS 11 book. The topic was: “Governments should spend money on railways rather than roads. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?”.
Besides paraphrasing the information given, when I stated my opinion I also presented my main ideas in brief. So, my thesis statement was:
Hi, I have a doubt. For an agree/disagree essay, and if only one opinion is mentioned in the question, Do I still have to write about both sides of the topic? ( I mean advantages and disadvantages or only the ones we agree or disagree)
I am still waiting for a response from your side.
In the meanwhile, I’ a bit confused after watching several tips or strategies using in task2. The thing is Could you please tell me the Essay structure will be same for all types : Like agree/disagree, Problem and solution, advantages and disadvantages, Discussion essay, Positive and negative.

Just wanted to ask you. Is agree or disagree essay and argumentative essay same? If it is so, why there is no REFUTATION or the counter argument in your essay. As far as I know, there has to be REFUTATION or COUNTER ARGUMENT for the essay to be argumentative. It is the rule for any argumentative essay. Please correct if I am wrong. Thank you
For example, with this essay, I started to write about students would also learn about their own body, how its functions, that foods to avoid, etc, which would prevent them from eating the wrong kind of food. -> would that be off topic? I wasn’t sure if “physical education” only refers to doing physical activities.
I am confused in one aspect of writing task2 . I found on your website this example of topic essay : ” Some people think that the government is wasting money on the arts and that this money could be better spent elsewhere. To what extent do you agree with this view? ”
They don`t ask me if I agree or disagree. In this case is it correct to choose to write about the reasons for which I do not agree with the statement? Even though they ask to what extend do I agree with this view.

. 2) for argument and also for opinion essay can I follow the same for relevant topics.
